EMAP Residencies 2026 – Open Call

The European Media Art Platform (EMAP) is pleased to announce its 2026 Open Call for residencies. Supported by the EU Creative Europe programme and the EMAP Extended project (2026–2029), the platform is expanding its residency programme for artists, collectives, or other artistic collaborations working in the fields of digital art, media art, and bio-art. Residencies are available across 15 different countries.

The programme is also open to artistic practices that incorporate new technologies in any form.

The EMAP residency programme places a strong emphasis on collaborationApplicants must therefore apply as a duo or collective, or propose a collaborative project with a partner of their choice or with a suitable collaborator local to the host institution.

Residency Details & Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Applicants must be EU residents or taxpayers in an EU member state, or residents/taxpayers of one of the eligible non-EU countries. 
  • Undergraduate and Master’s students are not eligible to apply. 
  • PhD candidates and emerging artists of any age or academic background are encouraged to apply.

Duration: The residency lasts for 2 months and should take place between June and the end of 2026. 

Benefits & Support

  • Two-month production residency at one of the EMAP host organisations. 
  • Invitation to the kick-off conference in Braga, Portugal (May 8–9, 2026). 
  • €4,000 grant for the lead applicant (including subsistence). 
  • €2,000 grant for collaborating artist(s). 
  • €4,000 project budget for production costs. 
  • Accommodation provided by the host organisation. 
  • Travel expenses covered by the host according to EU ceilings. 
  • Access to technical facilities and/or media labs. 
  • Professional presentations and opportunities for exhibition tours and potential exhibitions with EMAP Partners. 

Application Process

Deadline: The Open Call is active from February 2 to March 13, 2026, 14:00 CET.
